Overview

Join us this Matariki for a vibrant celebration of renewal and community at Unitec’s Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae.

This year, we proudly present the Puna Kōrero project. This profound community placemaking initiative pays homage to our local springs and waterways, especially Te Wai Unuroa o Wairaka and Te Auaunga (Oakley Creek). These natural treasures are vital to our ecosystem and pivotal to our campus's cultural tapestry.

Through a rich blend of curated activities, including tree planting, the launch of a storytelling mobile app, the unveiling of Allana Goldsmith’s reo Māori music video "Manaakitia," and a projection-mapped animation show, we aim to deepen the connections between our community, and this cherished place.

Join us as we celebrate the puna, the pā harakeke, and our marae—the heart of our campus—with music, storytelling, and collective stewardship of the land. Let’s acknowledge the past, cherish the present, and sow the seeds for a sustainable future.
