Unitec Students Social Media Community Guidelines
To ensure that our social media accounts are engaged with appropriately, we ask that people follow our community guidelines. We encourage contributions to our Unitec Student channels but reserve the right to remove posts or block anyone that violate our community guidelines.
This guideline covers all of our social media channels: Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Posting/posts on our channels
If you post to one of our social media accounts, or otherwise respond or comment on one of our posts, you are agreeing to abide by these community guidelines.
Comments and responses that you read on our social media accounts that are not posted by us come from the members of our community. The content of these comments (including opinions and statements) posted do not necessarily reflect the views of our channels, and are the responsibility of the individuals posting them.
Be kind and respectful
We encourage our community:
- Give constructive feedback and differing opinions
- To have open and candid discussions and debates
- To be respectful and civil with what you post
We do not tolerate comments that:
- Hateful in language targeting race/ethnicity, age, colour, creed, religion, gender, sexual preference or orientation, nationality or political beliefs
- Defamatory, offensive, obscene, vulgar or depicting violence
- Personal attacks or discriminatory comments of another community member
Stay on topic
We encourage:
- Comments and contributions to be relevant to the topic discussed
We do not condone:
- Trolling, spamming, fraudulent or deliberately misleading posts
- Any commercial solicitations or solicitation of donations
- Making false statements and claims
- Posting content that is off-topic or irrelevant information to the thread of conversation
- Repetitive comments by an individual or multiple users
Follow the law
We encourage our community:
- To keep it legal
We will not accept:
- Violations of any intellectual property rights
- Sexually explicit or pornographic content
- Sharing confidential information relating to other users
- Viruses or programs that could damage the operation of other people’s computers or mobile devices
- Content that is illegal, gives instructions for illegal activity or advocates illegal activities.
Don't share personal information
Remember that our social media accounts are public forums, you should only share information you are happy for the general public to see. We strongly recommend you do not share personal or sensitive information, such as your phone number, email, address, or student ID information on our social media accounts.
