Domestic Terms and Conditions of Enrolment
Please note: These terms and conditions are effective as of the 27th July 2018.
You need to accept these conditions to complete this application to enrol at Unitec.
We’ve tried to write these as simply as possible, but if you have any questions about these terms and conditions, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you understand them better.
General conditions of enrolment
- The information I give Unitec in any application (now and in the future) is true and complete. If it isn’t, I know that my enrolment may be cancelled.
- If fees apply to any of my courses, I will pay my fees or will have applied for a student loan to pay my fees by the due date on the invoice. If my loan application is declined, I will inform Unitec and we will come to an agreement as to an alternative payment method.
- If I don’t pay my fees, Unitec has the right to recover them from me and I will have to pay for the costs of recovery.
- I will comply with Unitec’s rules which I can find on Unitec's Policies page.
- Sometimes Unitec has to change the course timetable or cancel a course. If this happens, Unitec will advise me as soon as possible and in the case of cancellation, Unitec will try to find a suitable replacement course, or provide a refund. If I want more details on this, I can read Unitec’s Admission, Enrolment and Fees Policy.
- Unitec will hold information about me and I can access and correct that information if I want to. For more information I can read Unitec’s Privacy Procedures Document.
- When I use the internet at Unitec I’ll comply with Unitec’s Electronic Devices and Systems Policy, and if I don’t, I may face costs and consequences including termination of my access. View Unitec's Electronic Devices and Systems policy.
- I won’t give my computer login details to anyone else, and I know that if someone else uses my login details, then I’m responsible for what they do when they’re using my login. I will contact Unitec if I think someone else has my computer login details.
- From time to time Unitec may send me information about other courses, programmes, or services that may be useful to me.
- The personal information I’ve given Unitec may be shared with and validated by other organisations, and shared within Unitec. Other organisations include: government ministries, departments and agencies, and industry training organisations, registration bodies, other tertiary institutes, previous secondary schools, students’ associations at Unitec, and providers of work experience. My information will be shared if it is relevant to my enrolment and progression as a student and graduate of Unitec, but might also be shared so that Unitec can comply with its obligations to the government departments and agencies such as the Police, ACC, TEC, NZQA and immigration authorities. For more information on this, view all of Unitec's Policies.
- I acknowledge that my name, date of birth and residency will be included in the National Student Index, and will be used in an Authorised Information Matching programme with the New Zealand Birth Register. I can find out more information on the Government National Student Index website.
For Short Courses and Certificates of Proficiency, please also take note of the following conditions of enrolment:
- Short courses at Unitec are subject to minimum enrolment numbers and you will be notified promptly by phone or email if we need to cancel or postpone the course.
- For short courses or certificates of proficiency, when Unitec receives your application (including acceptance of these terms and conditions), you will be deemed to have accepted our offer to study at Unitec.
- Completion of one or more certificates of proficiency does not necessarily entitle you to gain access to any other courses or programmes, nor does it mean that the combination of courses you take will give you the right to be conferred a qualification from Unitec (or anywhere else).
- A student who has obtained a pass for a certificate of proficiency may have that pass credited to a qualification on condition that any prerequisite or co-requisite conditions or other requirements prescribed for that Qualification have been met. In exceptional circumstances, the relevant academic authority may exempt the student from this requirement.
