Round One: Video Audition
- Candidates will prepare and send a video audition for round one of the audition process.
- Video audition instructions will be sent to each candidate during the application process.
- All videos should be sent directly to acting@unitec.ac.nz
- Acting discipline tutors will evaluate all videos and offer places to candidates for the round two 2-day audition weekend.
Round Two: 2-day Audition Weekend – Auckland (Unitec building 108)

- The Auckland-based auditions will be run by a group of core tutors from the acting program.
Additional round two audition dates and venues in Christchurch and Wellington are to be confirmed.

Screen Arts

Interviews: Dates will be arranged on a case-by-case basis with applicants.
Please note: Shortly after receiving your application, a team member will contact you directly to schedule a 20 minute interview at a convenient time. You’ll also be given information on how to upload digital files or provide links to examples of your work.
Applicants may either:
Submit a select sample of their creative work (please be selective of the work you provide, choose 1-2 strong examples), such as
- A short film you’ve contributed to
- Creative writing
- Photography
- Script
- Artwork
OR Write a concise 500 word personal statement discussing some of the following:
- Why do you want to study film?
- What films have inspired you as a filmmaker?
- What do you think makes a great film?
- What genre of films most interests you?
- Are there any particular stories you’d like to tell through film?

New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 4) - (Performing Arts Pathway)

Interviews: Dates will be arranged on a case-by-case basis with applicants.
Interviews will determine the best pathway for each applicant. Portfolio material demonstrating previous involvement you might have had with screen or performance-related media may be relevant to your application. Please bring it along and be prepared to leave a copy with the interview panel.
Performing Arts electives for you to choose from include Telling Stories (Level 4 acting), Moving Images (Level 4 Screen) and Behind the Scenes (Level 4 theatre technician/design) or similar.
Announcements of successful candidates will follow each interview.
