If you are applying for an English language programme, you can apply now.
Academic programme
For an academic programme, check you meet the academic and English language entry requirements listed on the academic programme pages.
Check the equivalent qualifications for your country requirements.
Apply to study at Unitec
You can apply yourself or use an agent to apply for you.
Apply yourself
You can apply yourself using the online application form on this website. Go to the international student programme you want to apply for and click ‘Apply now’. Our international team are available to help you with your application.
If you are waiting for results from current study or English tests, you can still apply to Unitec now and send grades through when you have them.
Apply via an agent
You can engage an agent to apply on your behalf. An agent will help you with all aspects of your application, find an authorised agent.
Provide application documents
After you apply, you will be required to provide proof of your identification and some information about your prior study and work experience.
Required documents:
- Certified* copy of personal details page from passport or birth certificate
- Original or certified* copies of all previous tertiary transcripts and certificates (showing all subjects attempted in all years of study and the grades awarded)
- Certified* copy of personal details page from passport, or birth certificate.
“Certified” or “Notarised” means a Unitec agent or public notary has seen the original and has stamped and signed a copy of that document to confirm it is a correct copy of the original document. If you are in Auckland, you may bring the original document to the Unitec Student Central for a staff member to copy and stamp. Certified/notarised translations of original documents are required when these are not in English.
Depending on your programme, you may also need to provide:
- Statement of Purpose
- CV/Resume including detailed descriptions of any relevant work experience showing tasks performed and responsibilities
- Work related references
- Portfolio (for Architecture and Design programmes)
- Detailed research proposal.
Cross credits
If you have previous qualifications or work experience that are relevant to the programme you have applied for, you may also want to apply for cross credits or assessment of prior learning.

Confirmation of application and offer
We will acknowledge your application and start the assessment process.
If you meet the entry requirements you will receive an Unconditional Offer of Place to study at Unitec, which includes an invoice and instructions on how to pay the tuition fees.
If some documents are missing, you may receive a Conditional Offer of Place, and an Unconditional Offer will be made when all requirements are met.
Pay tuition fees, apply for Visa and insurance
Pay your fees after you receive your Offer of Place letter. A receipt will be provided when the funds have been received by Unitec. In some cases, tuition fees should be paid after obtaining an Approval in Principle (AIP) for your student visa. How to pay your fees.
When you have your Unconditional Offer and paid your fees, you can apply for your Visa.
You will also need to arrange International insurance.
Students under 18 years
If you will be under 18 when you begin your studies, you will need to meet the Under 18 accommodation requirements.
